On March 23, Maven sent the first health alert. Kirby’s water intake had spiked. It wasn\u2019t just a one-off. Over the next three days, the app continued flagging his drinking behavior as abnormal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By March 25, a health checkup was triggered in the Maven app. The pet parent responded to the check up a few days later, confirming an increase in water intake <\/strong>and something else \u2014 Kirby had started peeing in places he usually wouldn\u2019t.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In veterinary terms, polyuria<\/em> and polydipsia<\/em> \u2014 an increase in urine output and increase in water intake, respectively \u2014 can be red flags for underlying health or emotional issues. Increased drinking and urination are rarely random. In Kirby\u2019s case, it pointed to something deeper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maven vets reviewed the data. Kirby\u2019s <\/strong>activity levels<\/em><\/strong> and <\/strong>nighttime rest<\/em><\/strong> had changed too.<\/strong> He was more restless, sleeping less, waking more often, and was showing unusual activity levels at night.. These signs lined up with common symptoms of anxiety in dogs<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although warmer weather or a more active day can sometimes explain a bump in thirst, they don\u2019t explain a dog peeing everywhere<\/em> \u2014 especially in an otherwise well-trained pet. Anxiety, however, can.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When Maven\u2019s vet team followed up, Kirby\u2019s pet parent shared a key detail. From March 23 to 29, the family was away. Kirby was staying with a friend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe\u2019s a pretty anxious dog,\u201d they said. \u201cI think it took him a few days to adjust.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
