Tommy was a usually playful and laid-back Lab-Husky mix. One ordinary morning, he couldn’t stand up.
No warning signs or obvious symptoms - just a sudden, jarring shift. Something had been brewing under the surface, unnoticed. And like most pet parents, Guilherme had no way to see it coming.
That was the moment that led to Maven Pet’s creation.
The moment Tommy struggled to stand, I realized pet care kicks in too late. The earlier we act, the better the chances of a successful outcome. That’s why Maven Pet was born, to flip the usual script. Early detection and treatment means longer and happier lives.
Why Maven exists
If you’ve ever wondered, “Is my pet just tired or is something off?”, you’re not alone. Most health issues in pets build quietly. By the time symptoms show up, the damage is already done.
Maven Pet was created to change that. A tiny wearable sensor tracks each pet’s health, and our AI continuously analyses the data looking for indicators of problems. Through this process, we’re able to detect small but relevant shifts in breathing, heart rate, activity, rest, water intake, itch behaviors and more, alerting the pet parents and informing them regarding what to do next.
Our service is not meant to be a replacement for your veterinarian. Instead, by alerting you for small changes before they become serious problems, we help you ensure that they’re addressed in a timely manner for the best outcomes. Plus, our objective data helps vets make decisions!

Maven’s main component is a lightweight sensor that attaches to your pet’s existing collar. It pairs with our vet-backed pet health app to help you monitor the relevant indicators of potential health issues in dogs and cats:

Itching and scratching behaviors
Water intake (dogs only)
Long-term health patterns

Here’s another important fact about Maven Pet: our equipment is not meant to be used sporadically, like a GPS tracker you may operate when your pet makes a run for it (Maven does not provide location tracking!). Instead, our system was built to be used every day.
As time goes by and our AI learns your pet’s unique patterns, it’ll get to know them more and more. The more data we collect, the more precise and valuable the insights you receive will become! This enables us to help with:
