Resting Respiratory Rate Detection in Dogs

Published in AJVR (AVMA Journal)

Maven matched a vet’s manual respiratory count with little bias.

  • Tracks your dog’s breathing while they rest or sleep
  • Helps spot early signs of heart or lung problems
  • Removes the guesswork, no stopwatch, no stress

Comparison between Maven sensor data and manual video counts showed a bias of less than 1 breath per minute relative to the true values.

Wearable data patterns reveal early health impairments

Published in MDPI Animals

Maven detected early behavior changes before owners noticed something was wrong.

  • Spots unusual changes in activity, sleep, or restlessness
  • Helps you catch issues early instead of reacting late
  • Studied in natural home environments to reflect real dog behavior

Dogs wore Maven at home for at least 16 weeks. Researchers compared the data with owner notes and vet observations.

Wearable monitoring supports cognitive health research in senior dogs

Published in Athenaeum Scientific Publishers

Maven provided continuous, objective data to support the evaluation of cognitive health beyond caregiver observation alone.

  • Tracked changes in activity, rest, and sleep patterns over time
  • Captured subtle behavior shifts linked to cognitive function
  • Enabled long-term, at-home monitoring in natural living environments

This study used Maven’s wearable health monitoring system to track real-world behavioral changes in senior dogs receiving a mushroom-derived nutraceutical for cognitive decline.

Senior dogs wore the Maven sensor at home during the 12-week study. Maven data was analyzed alongside caregiver reports and cognitive assessments to evaluate changes in behavior and daily routines.

Wearable activity data supports smarter, personalized feeding plans

Published in Veterinary Sciences (peer-reviewed)

When switched to a dynamic, activity-based calorie plan, dogs stuck far closer to their prescribed amount than they did on a standard fixed plan.

  • Uses your dog's real activity data, not a subjective guess, to fine-tune their calorie needs each week
  • Recalculates feeding amounts weekly as your dog's activity changes
  • Adherence to the prescribed plan jumped from 8 of 19 dogs to 18 of 19 dogs

19 shelter dogs were fed a standard fixed-calorie plan for 4 weeks, then switched to a dynamic plan recalculated weekly using Maven's activity data plus body condition, breed size, and other individual factors. Intake accuracy rose from 92% to 99% of the prescribed amount, and dogs showed improved body composition over the 10-week study.
