Dog Parents Ask AI About Their Dogs Daily. It’s Never Met Their Dog. Maven Pet’s Companion Has.

Dog parents have quietly made AI part of how they care for their animals. A Talker Research survey of 2,000 pet owners, commissioned by Darwin’s pet food in April 2026, found that 43% use tools like ChatGPT for pet health or nutrition information, consulting them about seven times a week on average. Nearly six in ten have changed their dog’s care as a result.

Those tools have never met the dog. They answer from the internet, not from the animal asleep on the sofa.

Maven Pet launches Companion, an AI pet assistant that lives inside the Maven Pet app and knows each dog deeply. Ask it how last night went, whether something is normal, or what to do next, and it answers from that specific animal’s health record. It draws on three things no general-purpose AI can reach: continuous vitals, sleep, activity, and behavior streaming from the dog health sensor at up to 25 million data points a day; the dog’s own profile, from breed and age to chronic conditions and medication; and whatever the owner logs along the way. Every reading is judged against that dog’s own normal, never a breed average, unlike mainstream AI engines.

But the real difference is that Companion speaks first. It watches continuously and raises its hand when something moves away from that dog’s normal, often days before an owner would notice anything at all. A resting respiratory rate creeping up in a senior dog. A diabetic dog drinking more than usual. No general-purpose tool can flag either, because none of them are watching.

Maven Pet has delivered more than 125,000 proactive health insights to date. The most common are ear, skin, and allergy changes, followed by cardiac and respiratory shifts, then sleep and recovery. Three broken nights in a row with repeated interruptions become a prompt, not a number buried in a chart.

Everything an owner adds deepens that understanding. A logged symptom, a vet appointment, a new medication, a weigh-in. Each entry changes how Companion reads what comes next.

It might flag a rise in water intake weeks after a new medication starts, or recommend a vet visit when respiratory rate has been climbing steadily over time. The result is a new paradigm for Pet Care.

Thousands of dog parents already use Companion for everyday questions. Was that a bad night or the start of something? Is this normal for her? What should I do? But more importantly, they rely on Companion to flag early on when something is off.

Guilherme Coelho, CEO and Co-founder of Maven Pet: “Being a pet parent is constant uncertainty. We can’t ask them, so we are left guessing. Companion ends that. It watches your dog continuously and alerts you the moment something shifts. When you have questions, it answers from YOUR pet’s actual data, not the internet. That’s peace of mind.”

Companion is available now to all subscribers. The annual subscription is $167.92, hardware included. More at maven.pet/dog-health-tracker.
